Essentials

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is a large airport hotel with 610 rooms and suites, beside Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Hyatt’s announcement places it within walking distance of the terminal and near the Airport Rail Link Suvarnabhumi station.

It sits on the airport side of the city, so central Bangkok is a train or taxi ride away. Use it as a base for the night before or after a flight, not for exploring on foot.

Overview

The reason to book is the short transfer. An air-conditioned underground walkway of about 5 to 10 minutes leads to the terminal, so there is no pre-dawn taxi before a 6 am check-in. With heavy bags the shuttle is the easier option: the hotel’s FAQ describes a complimentary 24-hour service that runs on demand, with no fixed timetable. Pickup is at Gate 4 on the arrival level.

Rooms run from about 34 to 65 m2 according to Hyatt’s announcement, with views over the airport, the garden or the pool. The hotel also has 1,600 m2 of event space and 12 breakout rooms, so it is a conference venue as well as a transit stop.

Among the options in hotels near Suvarnabhumi Airport, this is the one that removes the transfer. It costs more than the shuttle hotels, so it pays off when the flight is early, the landing is late or the connection is tight.

Tip: After a night flight, take the shuttle from Gate 4 instead of the walkway. The tunnel is easy to follow, but a long walk with luggage when you are tired is not.

Food and drink

Market Café

The hotel’s FAQ lists Market Café as its all-day dining venue. It is the practical choice for breakfast before an early departure or a meal after a late landing, without leaving the building.

Touchdown Sports Bar

The FAQ describes Touchdown Sports Bar as a place for drinks and light bites. It suits a quick bite between flights more than a long dinner.

In-room dining is also listed in the FAQ.

Amenities

Hyatt’s announcement mentions a swimming pool, and rooms on that side look over it. It is useful on a long layover when the room is not yet ready.

The FAQ also lists a separate shuttle to Don Mueang Airport from Level 2, Gate 3. Treat that as its own transfer and allow generous time between the two airports.

The Airport Rail Link station is close for the ride into the city. The airport to city guide compares the train, taxi and bus options.

Pick the area before the hotel

Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
