The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam is a large hotel on Ratchaprarop Road, opened in 2013 and split into a Main Tower and a North Tower. The hotel’s website says it has over 700 rooms. The nearest rail stop is Ratchaprarop on the Airport Rail Link, about 8 minutes on foot according to booking listings.
The Pratunam stalls are a few minutes’ walk away. For anything farther, the free shuttle van runs scheduled trips to Central Chidlom, BTS Chidlom (Erawan Shrine), Siam Paragon (BTS Siam) and CentralWorld.
Overview
Space is the difference here. Rooms are 35 m2 for Luxury, Executive and Premier categories, 50 m2 for the Luxury Quadruple, 57 m2 for the Premier Family Room and 55 m2 for the Premier Family Bunk Bed room. Executive Rooms are on the top two floors. For a family of four or five, or two adults who want room to spread out, those figures are generous for this part of Bangkok.
Two towers and over 700 rooms mean longer corridors and busier lifts at breakfast than at a boutique address. Among the Pratunam hotels, this is the one built around family and group stays rather than a mall connection.
Tip: The shuttle runs three times a day Monday to Thursday and four times Friday to Sunday, so plan shopping trips around its timetable and take a taxi for the return leg.
Food and drink
The Berkeley Dining Room
On the 10th floor and seating about 300, with an international breakfast buffet of Western, Asian and Thai dishes. A weekday lunch buffet and a Friday and Saturday evening seafood buffet are listed.
The Mulberry Chinese Cuisine
Cantonese cooking, including all-you-can-eat dim sum lunches.
The Oak Bar
A sports bar serving Thai, Asian and international comfort food. The hotel also lists The Berkeley Lounge for afternoon tea and light meals, and Tipsy Terrace, an outdoor bar with live music and city views.
Amenities
Two outdoor pools sit on the 11th floor: a Main Tower pool with city views, and a marble pool in the North Tower. The fitness centre is on the 11th floor of the North Tower, with no trainers included. Let’s Relax Spa is on the 10th floor.
Families get a Kid’s Corner and a small playground. Wheelchair ramps are available in selected areas.
