Essentials

Maison Hotel Bangkok is a design hotel at 18 Sukhumvit 2 & 4 Alley, with its entrance on Soi 2 and a parking lot on Soi 4. It sits about 500 m from both BTS Nana and BTS Ploenchit, according to the hotel’s FAQ, so a train is within a roughly ten-minute walk in either direction.

The location is between two stations rather than on one, so you can choose Nana or Ploenchit depending on where you are heading. Soi 2 and Soi 4 are side lanes off Sukhumvit Road. For routes and fares see the BTS and MRT guide.

Overview

The hotel’s design follows what it calls a “Neo-Local” idea: Thai craft and natural materials in an open lobby, with a story drawn from old Bangkok and the characters Kwan and Riam. Natee Deluxe rooms are 30 m2 with a large city-view window and a bathroom separate from the rain shower. Phana Suites are 41 m2 and Kiri Suites 51 m2, both with a soaking tub beside a window. The Napha Executive Suite has two bedrooms in 78 m2.

Suites with a soaking tub suit a longer stay in a design-led room, with two stations in walking distance. For a kitchen, look at a serviced apartment instead; the hotel offers laundry service. The boutique and design hotels guide compares Maison with the other design hotels in the area.

Tip: The lobby entrance is on Soi 2 and the car park is on Soi 4, so give a taxi driver Soi 2. The pool is on the ground floor and the gym on the mezzanine, so a lower-floor room keeps both a short lift ride away.

Food and drink

Saan Somtum Bar

Saan Somtum is the Esan (northeastern Thai) street-food venue, with indoor and outdoor seating. Tell the kitchen how spicy you want the dishes.

NAA

NAA is the all-day restaurant, with a Thai-inspired menu through breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is the default for the hotel breakfast.

Mani Bar & Grill

Mani is a diner-style bar and grill with Western comfort dishes and Asian rice and noodle plates. Yardbird, a cafe at the front of the hotel in a quiet green corner, covers coffee and pastries.

Amenities

The outdoor pool is 4 x 21 m and 1.2 m deep at most, on the ground floor and for registered guests only. The hotel describes the pool design as inspired by Central Thai riverbank life, with lights on the bottom that recall fireflies along the canals. The gym on the mezzanine floor has Technogym equipment and is open 24 hours.

The Bulann Moonlight Spa uses Thai herbs and traditional massage; signature treatments include a tension-release massage and a relaxing massage. A Kid Club with a ball pit and slides runs on the mezzanine, and the hotel runs a monthly rotating gallery of local artists.

Limousine transfers run to Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, about 40 minutes by highway depending on traffic. Laundry service and parking on Soi 4 are available.

Where to stay

Pick the area before the hotel

Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
