Essentials
Samala Hotel Bangkok is a Kingston Hotels property at 43 Sukhumvit Soi 15, in two buildings, one of 7 floors and an adjacent block of 13. It sits on a side soi between Nana and Asok, about eight minutes on foot from MRT Sukhumvit according to listings, and it runs a scheduled shuttle to BTS Asok, MRT Sukhumvit and Terminal 21.
Soi 15 is not on a station, so the shuttle does the work of the last stretch: ride out in the morning and decide on the way back whether to walk.
Overview
The decor draws on Thai royal heritage, with Thai motifs on the walls and a regal colour palette. Superior rooms are 24 m2, Deluxe 26 m2, Premier 27 m2, Executive 35 m2 and the Samala Jacuzzi room 36 m2, all with a king or twin bed. Suites are far larger. The One-Bedroom Suite is 57 m2 with a fully equipped kitchenette and a separate living area, designed for extended stays, and family suites reach 70 m2.
That kitchenette suite is the reason to look here for a long stay: it gives you a place to cook and wash up while staying in a hotel with a daily housekeeping service. Entry-level rooms start at 24 m2, so a couple with a lot of luggage may prefer Premier or Executive. The boutique and design hotels guide compares Samala with Maison and the other design hotels nearby.
Tip: Book the 57 m2 One-Bedroom Suite if you will stay a week or more, and ask the front desk for the shuttle timetable at check-in.

Where to stay
Pick the area before the hotel
Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
