KL Bangkok Flight, Plus Manila, Saigon and Jakarta
KL, Manila, Saigon and Jakarta to Bangkok: nonstop airlines, flight times from about 1h30 to 3h50, and whether you land at Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang.

On this page
A KL Bangkok flight takes about 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes nonstop. Saigon is shorter at about 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, while Manila takes roughly 3 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 50 minutes and Jakarta about 3 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes. Thai Airways appears on the Manila, Saigon, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur routes, and which Bangkok airport you land at depends on the airline you pick.
This guide compares the four routes by airline, flight time and arrival airport, then explains how to choose between them. Prices are not included, because fares move daily. All schedule figures come from airline-schedule and fare-comparison listings read on 9 October 2026. Frequencies and times change by season, so treat them as a guide to what exists and confirm the current timetable with the airline before you book.
Which hub has the shortest flight to Bangkok?
Saigon does, at about 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, with one listing putting the average at 1 hour 36 minutes. Kuala Lumpur follows at around 2 hours 15 minutes, then Manila and Jakarta at roughly 3.5 hours.
| From | Nonstop airlines listed | Typical time | Arrival airport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kuala Lumpur | Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways, AirAsia, Batik Air Malaysia, Thai AirAsia | about 2 h 15 min to 2 h 20 min | Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK) by airline |
| Manila | Philippine Airlines, Thai Airways, Cebu Pacific, Philippines AirAsia | about 3 h 20 min to 3 h 50 min | BKK or DMK by airline |
| Saigon | Vietnam Airlines, VietJet, Thai Airways, Thai VietJet, Vietravel Airlines, Thai AirAsia | about 1 h 30 min to 1 h 45 min | BKK, Thai AirAsia to DMK |
| Jakarta | Thai Airways, Garuda Indonesia, Ethiopian Airlines, Indonesia AirAsia, Thai Lion Air | about 3 h 30 min to 3 h 45 min | BKK, AirAsia and Thai Lion Air to DMK |
Figures differ by a few minutes between aggregators. Bangkok runs on UTC+7. That is one hour behind Kuala Lumpur and the same as Jakarta, so Jakarta flyers do not need to adjust their watches.

KL to Bangkok: two airports, many airlines
Kuala Lumpur has flights to both Bangkok airports. Into Suvarnabhumi, listings show Malaysia Airlines at roughly 5 to 6 daily flights (another site counts 42 weekly direct flights), with a flight time of about 2 hours 19 minutes. Thai Airways is listed at 2 daily flights on the same route, and Thai Vietjet appears as a low-cost option.
Into Don Mueang, the Skyscanner route page showed about 95 flights a week as of June 2026. AirAsia, Batik Air Malaysia and Thai AirAsia are the airlines named, and AirAsia is the one most travellers book on that pair. The earliest listed departure was an AirAsia flight at 6:35 am, and the last was Thai AirAsia at 8:45 pm. Thai AirAsia appears with a start date in late October 2026 on one schedule site, so check that it is flying on your date.
Published times for Kuala Lumpur to Don Mueang are about 2 hours 15 minutes (Skyscanner) to 2 hours 20 minutes (FlightsFrom).
Which airport suits you depends on where you are staying. The choice comes down to fare, departure time and the ground transfer at the other end. The guide to getting from the airport to the city in Bangkok covers that last leg.
If you are weighing the two capitals as places to live rather than just fly between, the comparison of Kuala Lumpur vs Bangkok for digital nomads goes through the trade-offs.
Manila to Bangkok: four airlines, two airports
Several airlines fly nonstop from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) to Bangkok, and the flight takes roughly three and a half hours. Estimates in the sources range from 3 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 50 minutes to Suvarnabhumi, and about 3 hours 40 minutes to Don Mueang.
The airlines listed for airlines Manila to Bangkok searches are:
- Philippine Airlines: shown as the fastest nonstop on one aggregator, at about 3 hours 20 minutes, with flight PR736 listed daily and 3 to 4 daily flights on another schedule page.
- Thai Airways: flight TG621 is listed daily, and one site counts 2 daily flights from Manila.
- Cebu Pacific: flight 5J929, listed with 2 daily flights. Sources disagree on its Bangkok airport, with some showing Suvarnabhumi and others Don Mueang.
- Philippines AirAsia: listed with 1 daily flight to Don Mueang.
On the Thai Airways side, one tracker shows TG621 leaving Manila at 12:55 and landing in Bangkok at 15:25, a scheduled time of about 3 hours 30 minutes. The return TG620 leaves Bangkok in the early morning, around 07:25 to 07:45 in the records found, with a block time of about 3 hours 10 minutes to 3 hours 20 minutes. If you are searching for Manila to Bangkok Thai Airways flights, note that aircraft types vary by tracker, so do not choose a flight on the assumption of a particular plane.

Philippines AirAsia is listed to Don Mueang, Cebu Pacific is disputed, and the sources do not settle the airport for every other carrier, so check the airport code on your itinerary. BKK is Suvarnabhumi and DMK is Don Mueang.
Saigon to Bangkok: the short hop with the most airlines
Saigon, with flights from Tan Son Nhat (SGN), is the shortest route here and has the most carriers. An April 2026 schedule listing counted these nonstop weekly flights to Suvarnabhumi:
| Airline | Weekly flights listed | Listed flight time |
|---|---|---|
| VietJet | 28 | about 1 h 30 min to 1 h 45 min (route range) |
| Vietnam Airlines | 28 | about 1 h 30 min to 1 h 45 min (route range) |
| Thai Airways | 14 | about 1 h 25 min |
| Thai VietJet | 7 | about 1 h 40 min |
| Vietravel Airlines | 7 | not listed |
A second listing, dated June 2026, supports those counts: Thai Airways shows two departures a day, Vietnam Airlines and VietJet four each, and Thai VietJet one. Thai AirAsia and Bamboo Airways were listed to Don Mueang on one booking site.
Weekly totals for the route disagree widely between sites. Skyscanner showed 176 weekly flights between Saigon and Bangkok, while Kupi put it at about 101, so use any total as a rough sign of frequency, not a promise.

A flight this short means the airport at each end matters more than the air time. With a listed average of about 1 hour 36 minutes, the check-in, security and transfer time on either side can exceed the flight.
Jakarta to Bangkok: Thai Airways leads on frequency
Jakarta to Bangkok is about 3 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes, with Skyscanner averaging 3 hours 34 minutes and FlightsFrom listing 3 hours 45 minutes. A schedule listing updated on 22 April 2026 showed these nonstop services into Suvarnabhumi:
- Thai Airways: 14 flights a week, listed at 3 hours 30 minutes.
- Garuda Indonesia: 7 flights a week, about 3 hours 40 minutes.
- Ethiopian Airlines: 4 flights a week, about 3 hours 45 minutes.
That adds up to 25 weekly nonstop flights, and a second listing also reported 25 weekly departures. For Jakarta Bangkok Thai Airways searches, one record of the Bangkok to Jakarta flight TG435 arrives at Soekarno-Hatta Terminal 3. The Jakarta departure TG434 was listed at 12:35 with arrival in Bangkok at 16:05, though the source noted it does not fly on every date, so check operating days.
Low-cost carriers use the other airport. Indonesia AirAsia and Thai Lion Air are listed on the Jakarta to Don Mueang route.

Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang: which one will you land at?
Bangkok has two main airports. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) is one, and Don Mueang (DMK) is often used by low-cost carriers. On these four routes, the pattern from the listings is:
- Suvarnabhumi: Malaysia Airlines and Thai Airways from Kuala Lumpur, most Saigon carriers, and Thai Airways, Garuda and Ethiopian from Jakarta.
- Don Mueang: AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur, Philippines AirAsia from Manila, Thai AirAsia from Saigon, and Indonesia AirAsia and Thai Lion Air from Jakarta.
For Manila, Cebu Pacific is split between the two airports in the sources, and the airport for Philippine Airlines and Thai Airways is not stated, so check your itinerary.

The right airport can depend on where your hotel is. Read the airport to city guide before you pick a fare that lands at an airport far from where you are staying.
How do you choose between the four routes and airlines?
Start from your departure city, because the route is mostly decided for you. Then pick by what matters most:
- Shortest trip: Saigon, at roughly 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes in the air.
- Widest choice of airport: Kuala Lumpur, with Malaysia Airlines and Thai Airways at Suvarnabhumi and roughly 95 weekly flights to Don Mueang.
- A named full-service carrier at Suvarnabhumi: Thai Airways flies all four routes in the listings, from Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Saigon and Jakarta.
- Don Mueang arrivals: AirAsia, Thai AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia and Thai Lion Air are listed there, so check the arrival airport before booking.
These four hubs are also useful if Bangkok is one stop in a longer trip. The guide to using Bangkok as a base for Southeast Asia travel shows how routes like these fit into a regional plan.

What should you check before you fly?
- Entry rules: these depend on your passport. Check the official Thai e-visa website or your nearest Thai embassy before travel, and verify the current rules for your nationality, because they change.
- The airport code on your ticket: BKK or DMK. Booking engines show both, and a cheap fare may land at the airport you did not plan for.
- Operating days: some flights, such as TG434 from Jakarta, were noted as not flying every day. Confirm your date.
- Fares and timetables: all figures here are third-party aggregator snapshots, not airline timetables. Frequencies disagree between sites, so confirm on the airline’s own website.
