Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort is a garden resort on the western, Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya, in three main buildings. The hotel’s factsheet describes it as a city hotel with resort grounds, a short shuttle-boat ride from the centre.
There is no rail station at the gate. The complimentary shuttle boat runs on a schedule to Saphan Taksin BTS station, ICONSIAM and River City, and that boat is the route most guests take into the city.
Overview
Rooms are in the three main buildings and have balconies facing the city, the garden or the river. The factsheet lists Deluxe Rooms, Deluxe River View and River Front rooms, Junior Suites, a Family Suite and larger river-front suites. Interiors use Thai silk and hardwood floors, and rooms have rain showers and Nespresso coffee in the higher categories.
The grounds make this the most spacious of the Thonburi hotels, with gardens, a pool and sports facilities between the buildings. Tip: Ask for the current shuttle boat timetable at check-in, since the frequency has been quoted differently over time, and plan the last return before dinner in the city.
Food and drink
Trader Vic’s
A Polynesian and Pacific Rim restaurant and bar with a river deck, according to the resort’s materials. It is the evening choice on the grounds.
Manohra dinner cruise
A Thai set dinner on a restored antique rice barge, cruising past temples and city landmarks, according to the resort’s factsheet. It suits a single special evening.
Loy Nam
The pool bar, with a swim-up counter serving smoothies and cocktails, plus pizza and burgers delivered to your sunbed according to the factsheet. The resort also has an all-day international restaurant with a breakfast buffet, a Chinese restaurant and a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant.
Amenities
The resort has a large outdoor pool with a swim-up bar, a jacuzzi, a gym with sauna and steam room, and floodlit tennis courts. A Muay Thai ring, a daily Thai cultural show and nightly live music are on the factsheet.
