Essentials

Capella Bangkok is a small luxury hotel of 101 rooms, suites and villas on the Chao Phraya, on the same estate as Four Seasons. Sathorn Pier and the Saphan Taksin BTS station are reached by the shared shuttle boat, a few minutes across the water.

With only 101 rooms, the hotel is a good deal smaller than its neighbour. That suits a stay built around the room, the garden and a few good meals.

Overview

Riverfront rooms are 61 m2 with a private balcony and a king or twin bed, according to the hotel’s website. On levels 5 to 10 they have floor-to-ceiling river views. Suites start with the 101 m2 Courtyard Suite overlooking the pool, and rise through the River Suites to the Capella Suite with a wraparound balcony. Seven villas stand on the riverbank, each with a private garden, a sala and a plunge pool. The largest, the Presidential Villa, has two bedrooms.

The hotel is a good fit for a long, restful stay where the room is the main event. Those who want more pools and more restaurants will find them at Four Seasons, on the same estate. The riverside luxury hotels guide compares the two and the other river hotels.

Choose a higher-floor Riverfront room for the view of the water and the boats, or a ground-floor villa if you prefer to step straight from your room into a private garden.

Tip: Ask for a room on levels 5 to 10 for the widest river view, and check the shuttle boat times at the front desk on arrival.

Food and drink

Côte by Mauro Colagreco

The second-floor signature restaurant. The hotel’s website says it was awarded two Michelin stars for 2025, and it is led by Executive Chef Davide Garavaglia under chef Mauro Colagreco. It is the place for a celebratory dinner, not a quick meal.

Phra Nakhon

Regional Thai cuisine in a light-filled dining room, according to the hotel’s website. A calmer, more familiar option for a regular evening meal.

Stella and the Tea Lounge

Stella is the riverfront cocktail bar, with a small tapas menu. The Tea Lounge looks out over a lily pond and is the quieter choice for afternoon tea.

Amenities

The infinity pool is kept at 28 degrees C and has cabanas by the river. The gym is open 24 hours.

Auriga Wellness is the hotel’s spa, set in the landscaped gardens. It has seven treatment suites, two of them for couples, with water therapy, a women’s steam room, a men’s sauna, a spa garden and a relaxation lounge. Classes include yoga and tai chi.

The shuttle boat is shared with Four Seasons and serves Sathorn Pier and ICONSIAM. The villas add a private plunge pool and garden to the usual hotel services.

Where to stay

Pick the area before the hotel

Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
