Samitivej Hospital Thonburi and Other Branches Compared
Which Samitivej branch to pick: Sukhumvit, Srinakarin, Thonburi, Chinatown, Sriracha and Chonburi compared by beds, centers, location and who each suits.

On this page
Samitivej is one hospital brand with seven hospitals in Thailand, and they are not interchangeable: Sukhumvit has 275 beds and a Japanese Medical Center, Srinakarin has 400 beds and sits in eastern Bangkok near the airport, Thonburi (150 beds) serves the west bank of the river, and Chinatown (31 beds) is a small eye and rehabilitation site on Yaowarat Road (Samitivej, 2026). The right one depends on where you live, what you need treated and whether the branch has the center you want. This guide compares the branches so you can pick before you book.
How many Samitivej hospitals are there?
Samitivej’s group page lists seven hospitals in Thailand and one clinic in Yangon, Myanmar. The Thai sites are Sukhumvit, Srinakarin, Thonburi and Chinatown in Bangkok, plus Sriracha and Chonburi in Chonburi province, and a Children’s Hospital that runs as a campus inside the Sukhumvit and Srinakarin hospitals. The brand is owned by Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), a private hospital group (Wikipedia).
The group’s main number is +66 2022 2222. Each hospital also has its own line, listed below.
| Branch | Area | Beds | Own phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sukhumvit | Soi 49, central Bangkok | 275 | +66 2022 2222 |
| Srinakarin | Suan Luang, eastern Bangkok | 400 | 02-378-9000 |
| Thonburi | Samre, west bank of the river | 150 | 02-438-9000 |
| Chinatown | Yaowarat Road, Bangkok | 31 | 02-118-7893 |
| Sriracha | Si Racha, about 110 km east of Bangkok | 184 | group number |
| Chonburi | Chonburi province | 181 | group number |
Bed counts come from Samitivej’s group page, checked on 9 October 2026. The Children’s Hospital has more than 150 specialist professionals across its two campuses.
Which Samitivej branch should you pick?
Start with the practical test: the closest branch that has the center you need. A short rule of thumb:
- Living or working around Soi 49 and Thong Lo: Sukhumvit. Read the Samitivej Sukhumvit hospital guide for its prices, trauma center and directions, which this page does not repeat.
- East Bangkok, or flying in and out of Suvarnabhumi: Srinakarin, which has a clinic at the airport.
- West of the river, in Thonburi: Samitivej Thonburi Hospital.
- Eyes, LASIK, cataract or knee replacement near Yaowarat: Chinatown.
- Laem Chabang, Si Racha or Pattaya: Sriracha.
- Chonburi city: Chonburi.
The same brand name does not mean the same equipment or the same doctors at every site. When you book, name the branch twice, once by phone and once in writing, because taxi drivers and booking forms mix them up.
What does Samitivej Thonburi offer?
Samitivej Thonburi Hospital has 150 beds and sits in the Thonburi area, west of the river. Its address is 337 Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Road, Samre, Thonburi, Bangkok 10600, and its phone is 02-438-9000. Samitivej’s group page says BTS stations are nearby; check the walking route on a map before you rely on it.

The Thonburi site lists 17 centers and departments, among them:
- Health Span+
- Gastrointestinal and Liver Center
- Eye Center and LASIK
- Bone and Joint Center
- Samitivej Allergy Institute
- Children’s Health Center and Women’s Health Center
- Cosmetic and Implant Dental Center
- Emergency and Accident Center
- Skin and Aesthetic Center
- Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Center
Samitivej’s own group page also names breast, allergy, orthopedic and eye and LASIK centers as Thonburi’s focus.
For dental work, Sukhumvit also has a dental clinic, covered in the Sukhumvit guide. Ask which site has the dentist for your treatment, and ask the branch for the doctor’s specialty before you book.

Thonburi prices
Thonburi’s site lists these packages, checked on 9 October 2026 at roughly 34 baht per US dollar. The site gives a higher earlier price for the two check-ups only.
| Package | Listed price | Earlier price |
|---|---|---|
| Premium Health Check-Up, men 35+ | 12,900 baht (~$380) | 38,300 baht (~$1,130) |
| Premium Health Check-Up, women 35+ | 15,900 baht (~$470) | 45,125 baht (~$1,330) |
| CT Calcium Score, 35+ | 2,990 baht (~$88) | not given |
| Eye exam, dilated | 1,590 baht (~$47) | not given |
| Femto LASIK | 49,900 baht (~$1,470) | not given |
Ask whether the listed price has conditions and what it includes. For how check-ups compare across Bangkok, see executive health check-up packages.
Is Samitivej Thonburi the same as Samitivej Chonburi?
No. The names are one letter apart but the hospitals are in different places. Thonburi is the Bangkok district on the west bank of the river. Samitivej Chonburi Hospital is in Chonburi province and has 181 beds. Samitivej’s group page says Chonburi has an inpatient department, an intensive care unit, an accident and emergency department and a separate outpatient clinic.
If you search for Samitivej Chonburi hospital, check that the page you open names the province. For a visit to Pattaya or the industrial coast, the Sriracha branch below may be closer.
What is Samitivej Srinakarin?
Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital is the group’s largest, with 400 beds and more than 500 medical professionals (Samitivej, 2026). It is at 488 Srinakarin Road, Suan Luang, Bangkok 10250, phone 02-378-9000, in eastern Bangkok. The group page says it offers a complete range of services for Thai and foreign patients, has a clinic at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and can transfer patients quickly to the airport. A location directory lists it 6.9 km from the Sukhumvit branch (SoiDB).
For more detail, see our Samitivej Srinakarin guide.

Srinakarin is also home to Samitivej Srinakarin Children’s Hospital, on the second floor (SoiDB). The Children’s Hospital has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for newborns up to one month and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for infants older than one month, and does pediatric surgery including brain, urinary tract and heart (Samitivej, 2026). Confirm any center with the hospital before you plan around it.
Choose Srinakarin if you live in the east of the city, have a child who may need an intensive care unit, or want the branch with an airport clinic.
What is Samitivej Chinatown Hospital?
Samitivej Chinatown Hospital is at 624 Yaowarat Road, Samphanthawong, Bangkok 10100, phone 02-118-7893. It has 31 beds, so it is a small hospital: Samitivej’s group page describes eye care, physical therapy and an accident and emergency center.

Its own website lists 16 centers: Vaccine, Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy, Eye Institute, Joint Replacement, General Medicine, Cosmetic Surgery, Anti-Aging, LASIK, General Surgery, ENT, Life Center, Emergency, Skin Institute, Radiology, Liver and Gastrointestinal Institute and Heart Center. Current campaigns on the site include a thyroid nodule microwave ablation package, cataract treatment and a knee replacement program, and the hospital reports an Ophthalmology Service Provider of the Year in Thailand 2026 award (news dated 27 May 2026).

Choose Chinatown for eye care, LASIK, cataract or joint replacement when you are in the old city, and ask for the 24-hour emergency arrangements before you rely on it for a serious problem. With 31 beds, a complex case may be transferred. Ask in advance where.
Samitivej Virtual Hospital
The Chinatown site also lists “Samitivej Virtual Hospital” under patient support. Ask the hospital what it covers (video consultation, follow-up or prescriptions), whether it accepts patients living overseas and what it charges, before you plan a remote visit.
What is Samitivej Sriracha Hospital?
Samitivej Sriracha Hospital is about 110 km east of Bangkok, in Si Racha, Chonburi province, with 184 beds. Samitivej’s group page says it serves locals, expatriates and tourists near Laem Chabang and Pattaya, and has a Japanese section with a one-stop service.

Choose Sriracha if you live or work on the eastern coast and want a branch of the same brand without driving to Bangkok. Ask the branch directly whether the specialist you need is on site, and plan for a transfer to Bangkok if your case is complex.
What is the Samitivej clinic in Yangon?
Outside Thailand, the group’s page lists “The International Samitivej” as a clinic in Yangon, Myanmar. If you search for Samitivej hospital Yangon, note that the group lists it as a clinic. Contact the clinic for what it provides.
Is Samitivej hospital expensive?
Samitivej is a private hospital group, and a bill depends on the doctor, tests, room and drugs. The hospitals publish package prices, which let you compare. At Thonburi, a Premium Health Check-Up for men aged 35 and over is listed at 12,900 baht ($380), down from 38,300 baht ($1,130). At Sukhumvit, the 2026 campaign lists a basic check-up at 3,500 baht ($105) as a promotion price and 7,500 baht ($220) online, with most campaign programs limited to Thai nationals and foreign residents (see the Sukhumvit guide). Prices as of 9 October 2026.
To keep costs predictable:
- Ask for a written estimate that names the doctor, hospital and medicine fees.
- Ask which price tier applies to your visa status.
- Ask what the package excludes.
- Check with your insurer whether the branch is covered and whether you pay first and claim later.
For a method that works across any Bangkok hospital, see choosing a hospital.
Are all Samitivej branches accredited?
Samitivej’s group page lists hospital accreditation by Joint Commission International (JCI), and says this at group level, not branch by branch. Accreditation shows a hospital follows a recognised safety framework; it does not predict how a single treatment will go. Ask the branch you plan to use for its current certificate, and read JCI vs private vs public hospitals for what the label does and does not tell you.
The group also reports a 1999 Mother-and-Baby Friendly designation from WHO and UNICEF, and being the first hospital outside Japan to receive the Japan Council for Quality Health Care award.
How do you tell the branches apart on a booking?
Several things trip up first-time patients:
- The logo and name look the same. Look for the branch name after “Samitivej” on the appointment message, the map pin and the receipt.
- Pediatric care is a campus, not a branch. The Children’s Hospital sits at Sukhumvit and at Srinakarin.
- Samitivej Thonburi and Samitivej Chonburi sound alike. Check the province.
- Phone lines differ. Use the number for the branch you chose, or the group number +66 2022 2222 and name the branch.
- Taxis. Give the driver the branch name and road. A referral site advises saying “Samitivej Sukhumvit” because the group has several Bangkok locations (Konkai Health).

A checklist before you book
- Choose the closest branch that lists the center you need.
- Phone that branch and ask for the doctor, date, language and a written estimate.
- Ask which price applies to you and what is excluded.
- Confirm the emergency and intensive care arrangements if you or a child may need them.
- Ask for the branch’s current accreditation certificate.
- Bring your passport, insurance details, a list of medicines by generic name and any recent results.
- Save the branch phone number, your insurer’s emergency line and 1669.
