Samitivej Sukhumvit: Soi 49 Hospital Guide for Foreigners
Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital at Soi 49: 275 beds, 24-hour trauma center, 2026 check-up prices from 3,500 baht, getting there, appointments and who it suits.

On this page
Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital is a private, 275-bed tertiary hospital at 133 Sukhumvit Soi 49, in the Thong Lo and Phrom Phong area of Bangkok, with more than 400 care specialists (Samitivej, 2026). It suits expats living in Sukhumvit who want a mid-city hospital with a 24-hour trauma center, interpreters and fixed-price check-up packages. For a minor problem a clinic costs less, and for a very complex case you may want to compare it with Bumrungrad and Bangkok Hospital.
What is Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital?
Samitivej is a hospital brand owned by Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), a private hospital group (Wikipedia). The Sukhumvit branch is its Bangkok city-centre site. A separate Samitivej Children’s Hospital also has a campus at Sukhumvit, so families can find paediatric care on the same site.

The hospital’s own page describes the site as a 275-bed tertiary hospital, and its 2026 campaign page lists dental, eye, sports and orthopedic, and plastic and esthetic surgery services. Medical-tourism reviews add heart, cancer, spine and women’s health centers, plus neurology, gastroenterology, paediatrics and obstetrics.
Is Samitivej Sukhumvit accredited?
Samitivej lists hospital accreditation by Joint Commission International (JCI) on its hospital page, but the wording covers the Samitivej group rather than naming each branch. Accreditation shows that a hospital follows a recognised safety framework. It does not predict the result of any single treatment. Ask the hospital for the current certificate that covers this branch. For how JCI compares with other hospital types, read JCI vs private vs public hospitals.
Where is it and how do you get there?
Address. 133 Sukhumvit 49, Klongtan Nua, Vadhana, Bangkok 10110.

By BTS. The hospital sits between two stations on the Sukhumvit line. BTS Phrom Phong is at the mouth of Soi 39 and BTS Thong Lo is at Soi 55, and local area guides name Thong Lo as usually the closer one. One guide estimates a 10 to 15 minute walk from the station, or about 30 baht on a motorcycle taxi down the soi. Treat those as rough figures: walk it once in daylight if you can, and avoid the walk when you are unwell.
By taxi. Give the driver the hospital name, “Samitivej Sukhumvit”, and Soi 49. Taxis work better than the BTS for anyone with limited mobility, a child or a fever.
Shuttle bus. Ask the hospital whether a shuttle runs from BTS Thong Lo, and if so at what times and whether visitors can ride it.

How do you book an appointment?
The hospital’s published contact is +66 2022 2222, and its Messenger page is m.me/Samitivej. Ask for the doctor, the date, the language you need and a written estimate. Bring your passport, your insurance details, a list of current medicines by generic name, and any recent scans or results.

Does Samitivej Sukhumvit work for foreigners?
The hospital says it provides international services such as interpreters and immigration assistance, and that its workforce is multilingual. It also runs a separate Japanese Medical Center with a one-stop service for Japanese patients. A medical-tourism review adds that an international patient center helps with travel, accommodation and language support. Ask for your language when you book and request the interpreter in writing.
For Japanese-speaking care, see Japanese medical care in Bangkok.
What can you see a doctor for here?

Package hours can differ from clinic hours, so confirm the time of your slot when you book.
How much does Samitivej Sukhumvit cost?
There is no single price list for a hospital, and a bill depends on the doctor, tests, room and drugs. What the hospital publishes is its package prices. The table shows the “Save Life Save Price 2026” campaign for Samitivej Sukhumvit, checked on 9 October 2026 at roughly 34 baht per US dollar. Each package has a promotion price and a higher online price. Prices as listed on 9 October 2026. Purchase is open until 15 November 2026 and the privilege is valid until 30 November 2026. Most programs are limited to Thai nationals and resident foreigners living in Thailand.
| Package | Promotion price | Online price |
|---|---|---|
| Basic check-up, men or women | 3,500 baht (~$105) | 7,500 baht (~$220) |
| Basic check-up for women, Plus | 5,500 baht (~$160) | 9,500 baht (~$280) |
| Men under 40 | 9,500 baht (~$280) | 17,500 baht (~$515) |

| Women over 50 | 38,000 baht (~$1,120) | 58,000 baht (~$1,710) |
Annual check-up prices on the page include the doctor’s fee and the hospital service fee. Many other items do not: the page marks which exclude doctor fees, hospital fees or both. Always ask what is included before you pay.
Important for visitors. The campaign page says most programs are limited to Thai nationals and foreign residents living in Thailand. If you are a tourist, ask the hospital which price applies to you before you book. For a wider view of check-up options, see executive health check-up packages in Bangkok.

| Breast screening, mammogram and ultrasound | 4,900 baht (~$145) | 5,940 baht (~$175) |
Vaccine prices on the page include the doctor and hospital service fees. The eye check-up excludes the vision assessment for an eyeglass prescription. A dental implant is listed at 95,000 baht (~$2,790), but that price excludes the doctor, prophylaxis and hospital service fees, so the final bill will be higher. For treatment prices across the city, see medical tourism cost in Bangkok by procedure.
Is there a dental clinic and vaccine service?
Yes to both. The Dental Clinic is on the 4th floor of Building 2, open six days with shorter Sunday hours (see the table). Vaccines are given at the Internal Medicine Clinic. Ask for the vaccine’s brand, the number of doses and the date of the next dose in writing.
What happens in an emergency?
The Samitivej Trauma Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. At Sukhumvit it is in Building 3, 1st floor, and the hospital gives +66 (0) 2022-2222 with option 1 for it. The hospital lists an ambulance with trained medical teams, medical evacuation and repatriation by ground or air, 24-hour general surgery, plus orthopedics, neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery. It also lists CT, MRI and mobile ultrasound, and 24-hour paediatric emergency care.

Ask for the emergency fee and deposit when you call, and keep your insurer’s emergency contact handy. Thailand’s national ambulance number is 1669. For what to do before you reach any hospital, see what to do in a medical emergency in Bangkok.
Insurance and payment
Before treatment, ask your insurer and the hospital’s international staff which of them guarantees payment, what cap applies, and whether you pay first and claim later. For choosing a policy, see health insurance for expats.
Is Samitivej Sukhumvit worth it? Honest review points
Reasons it works:
- Central location. Close to BTS Thong Lo and BTS Phrom Phong.
- Published package prices. The hospital lists dated prices with promotion and online columns, which lets you compare packages before you visit.
- Emergency cover. A 24-hour trauma center on the same site as the clinics.
- Family care. A children’s hospital campus at Sukhumvit.
Reasons to think twice:
- Prices are two-tier. The online price is often about double the promotion price, and promotions end. Check which one you get.
- Resident-only offers. Most campaign programs are limited to residents, which may exclude visitors.
- Add-on costs. Many items exclude doctor or hospital fees.
- A small problem. A cold, a rash or a routine blood test may cost less at a clinic. See choosing a hospital for a method that works for any Bangkok hospital.
A checklist before you go
- Phone +66 2022 2222 or use Messenger, and ask for a written estimate.
- Ask whether a shuttle runs from BTS Thong Lo.
- Confirm which price tier applies to your visa status.
- Ask what the price includes: doctor fee, hospital fee, medicines, lab.
- Bring your passport, insurance details, medicine list and past results.
- Save the hospital’s number, your insurer’s emergency line and 1669 on your phone.
