Essentials
Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit is a luxury-tier tower at 2 Sukhumvit Soi 57 in Thonglor, with about 295 rooms over 42 floors. Thong Lo BTS is the nearest station, a walk of roughly one to five minutes depending on the exit and your pace.
The tower is a station-side base for Thonglor, with cafes and bars on the surrounding sois and Phrom Phong one stop back along the BTS line. The venues inside, from an all-day restaurant to the rooftop bars, mean an evening out needs no taxi.
Overview
The rooms sit in a high-rise tower, and a higher floor gives a skyline view over Thonglor. Executive rooms add access to the executive lounge, a worthwhile upgrade for a longer stay since breakfast and an evening spread are served there.
The draw is height: the Octave rooftop bar occupies the top floors, and the hotel is the obvious pick for a guest who wants a drink with a view without leaving the building. Families with young children are better served by the big Phrom Phong hotels, as the pool is modest and there is no play area. How it compares with the Marquis, Hilton and Hyatt Place is laid out in hotels around Phrom Phong and Thonglor, and the city’s other high-floor options are in observation decks compared.
Tip: Book Octave through the hotel in advance for a sunset seat, and note the smart casual dress code; sportswear and flip-flops are not admitted.
Food and drink
57th Street
57th Street is the all-day restaurant. Marriott describes a menu inspired by traditional Thai recipes, served for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the venue also runs buffets.
The District Grill Room & Bar
The District Grill Room & Bar is the steakhouse, with quality steaks and seafood from an open kitchen. It suits a quiet dinner downstairs before the rooftop.
Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar
Octave occupies floors 45 to 49, with 360-degree views of the Bangkok skyline. Marriott’s reservation page lists a smart casual dress code. The restaurant floors (45 and 47) admit all ages, while the 48th and 49th floors are for adults aged 20 and over, and ID may be checked.
Amenities
Azure Pool Lounge & Bar is the pool bar by the rooftop pool, serving drinks, appetizers, salads and pizzas. There is also a Lobby Lounge and a coffee house, Chocolate Cake Company, for cakes and coffee.
An executive lounge serves Executive-level guests, and a spa and fitness centre are on site. The wellness area is on the 7th floor.

Where to stay
Pick the area before the hotel
Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
