Essentials

Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn is a tower on South Sathorn Road with a direct link to Surasak BTS. According to the hotel’s FAQ, the station is “directly connected to the 3rd floor of the hotel”, so the walk from platform to lobby never touches the street.

For anyone who finds Bangkok’s heat, traffic or uneven pavements tiring, that link is the reason to look at this hotel. You step off the train, cross the connection and take the lift. Surasak is on the Silom line, which runs through the Sathorn and Silom business district and out to Siam.

Overview

The hotel lists six room types on its FAQ page: Superior, Superior Sky, Executive Superior Sky, Executive Deluxe, Premium Deluxe and Junior Suite. Each room holds up to three guests, and a third guest sleeps on a rollaway bed for an extra charge. Rooms equipped for disabled travellers are available on request at no extra charge, subject to availability. Executive Level guests get access to an executive lounge.

This is a large tower rather than a boutique stay, with conference rooms on the 33rd floor. The station link also makes arrival day easy: with luggage, you reach the lobby without crossing a road. Its neighbour at Surasak, Holiday Inn, is the other big pool hotel here, and both are set against the smaller Sala Daeng and Chong Nonsi choices in our Silom and Sathorn hotel guide.

Tip: Use the BTS link on the 3rd floor rather than the street entrance when the weather turns, and ask for a high floor away from the road for less traffic noise.

Food and drink

Antito Bangkok

Antito is a resto-bar on the 14th floor with a relaxed poolside setting and city views. The menu is creative Italian, by chef Amerigo Tito Sesti. It works for a drink and a plate after a swim, without leaving the pool floor.

The Glass House

The Glass House is the buffet dining room, the hotel’s all-day option and the usual place for breakfast. It suits groups who want everyone to find something without ordering.

Chef Man

Chef Man is a Chinese restaurant with round tables, modern chandeliers and artwork wall panels. Round tables make it a practical choice for a family meal. The hotel also has Swizzles, a lobby-style lounge with large windows.

Amenities

The swimming pool and the fitness centre are both on the 14th floor, with panoramic city views, so one lift ride gets you to both. The pool has a children’s section. Guests can use the gym 24 hours a day with a room key card, though staff are on standby only during the day and evening.

There is no free shuttle. The hotel offers chauffeur-driven transport and paid airport transfers, and the airport trip takes about 50 minutes by highway depending on traffic. Charging points for electric cars are on the 5th floor of the parking area.

Where to stay

Pick the area before the hotel

Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
