Essentials

Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom is a 684-room hotel at 981 Silom Road in Bang Rak. The hotel’s website says BTS Surasak is within walking distance, and the walk is about 5 minutes.

The hotel is a large property with a full range of services, from a concierge desk open 24 hours to a tennis court. The hotel’s site places it in a busy commercial district and cites short rides from the area to ICONSIAM, Asiatique The Riverfront and Chao Phraya River cruises.

Overview

The room list is short and clear. Premium Rooms are 36 sqm, with a marble bathroom, soundproofing and skyline views; the same room with lounge access adds the Executive Club, breakfast, evening cocktails and private check-in. The One-Bedroom Suite is 57 sqm, with a separate living room and dining area, and the One-Bedroom Premium Suite is 66 sqm, with a panoramic view, lounge access and private check-in and check-out. Suites have a walk-in shower and a deep soaking tub. Some rooms have round windows that overlook the pool.

With 684 rooms, this is the biggest hotel among the Silom and Sathorn choices in our Silom and Sathorn hotel guide. Size means choice: several restaurants, a bakery, a pool bar and a bar with live music under one roof. It also means a busy lobby at check-in time. A smaller hotel will feel calmer, and anyone who wants Sala Daeng’s mall and side streets on the doorstep should look at Silom Serene instead.

Tip: The lounge-access Premium Room is worth considering for a stay of several days: breakfast, evening drinks and a private check-in are all in one place, with the lounge on the 23rd floor of Crown Tower.

Food and drink

The Brasserie

The all-day dining room on the lobby level serves Asian and international dishes, with live teppanyaki, tandoori, noodle and pasta stations. It is the hotel’s main restaurant and the practical choice for a group with mixed tastes.

Orchid Lounge

Orchid Lounge, also on the lobby level, has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Silom and serves Asian and international comfort dishes, light meals, desserts and drinks. It suits a quiet lunch or an afternoon sit-down.

Hari’s Bar

Hari’s Bar is a modern bar with live music and a big screen, serving cocktails, soft drinks and light bites. The Bakery in a corner of the lobby sells cakes, pastries, croissants and tarts, and the Aqua Terraza Pool Bar on the 6th floor serves light snacks and poolside meals.

Amenities

The 20 m outdoor pool and the Aqua Terraza Pool Bar are on the 6th floor of Crown Tower, on the same level as the outdoor tennis court, with equipment available from the Health Club reception. The Health Club has a fitness centre with sauna and steam rooms, on the 6th floor as well.

The Executive Club Lounge on the 23rd floor of Crown Tower is reserved for Executive Room and suite guests. Rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi, a pillow menu and bathrobes. The concierge on the lobby level works around the clock.

Where to stay

Pick the area before the hotel

Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
