Essentials

Millennium Hilton Bangkok is a tower hotel on the western, Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya, next to the ICONSIAM shopping centre. Hilton’s website places it beside ICONSIAM and reachable by boat and by Skytrain. Charoen Nakhon station on the Gold Line is the nearest rail stop.

Across the river, the hotel runs a private shuttle boat to Sathon Pier, where the Saphan Taksin BTS and the public express boats start. For anyone who plans to shop, eat and rest within a short stroll of the lobby, this is the easiest of the Thonburi riverside stays.

Overview

The building is a 32-storey tower, and its round crown is one of the recognisable shapes on the west bank. A King Executive room with lounge access is among the room types listed on Hilton’s website, and it opens the Executive Lounge to the guest.

Compared with the Peninsula and Anantara on the same bank, the Millennium Hilton’s edge is its position beside the mall and the Gold Line. The riverside luxury hotels guide sets out how the three Thonburi hotels differ in boats and walking distances.

Tip: Use the Gold Line from Charoen Nakhon for short hops and the hotel boat for Saphan Taksin, and ask at the desk for the boat times before you plan an evening in town.

Food and drink

Flow

The all-day restaurant, with five display kitchens covering Thai, Chinese, Indian and European food, according to Hilton’s website. Hilton also lists a Sunday brunch. The display kitchens let you see a dish before you choose it.

The Beach

The pool bar, next to the infinity pool. It serves light bites, cocktails and fresh juices, and suits a lazy afternoon.

Amenities

The 20 m infinity pool has a sun deck beside it, according to Hilton’s website. The gym is open 24 hours and has cardio machines and free weights.

The eforea spa spreads over two floors, with massages, facials and body treatments, plus a hydrotherapy room and a relaxation garden. The Executive Lounge is for guests with lounge access.

Hilton lists a private shuttle boat with direct access to Sathon Pier, and guided klong boat tours and tuk-tuk tours can be booked through the concierge.

Where to stay

Pick the area before the hotel

Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
