Essentials

The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon is a 155-room design hotel in the King Power Mahanakhon tower at 114 Narathiwas Road, Silom. Chong Nonsi BTS station is directly across from the tower, about 2 minutes on foot.

That makes it one of the easiest Silom hotels to reach by train: the Silom Line runs to Siam in one direction and Saphan Taksin and the river boats in the other. The tower sits at a busy junction, so expect traffic outside, but the station is close enough to avoid long street walks.

Overview

Rooms range from Standard King to Premium King, Corner King and a Corner Double with two double beds, up through suites and penthouses. The hotel’s website puts the Standard King at roughly 29 to 31 m2. A king room with accessible features is offered, a point worth raising early if step-free bathrooms or wider doorways matter.

The hotel is the brand’s Bangkok flagship and shares the tower with the SkyWalk and the 78th-floor Sky Beach rooftop bar. With several bars and a pub on site, it is a livelier choice than the traditional five-stars nearby. Other Silom and Sathorn five-stars are set side by side in luxury hotels in Bangkok compared.

Tip: Ask for the accessible king room at booking if you need it. The pool and gym share the 6th floor, so one lift ride covers both.

Food and drink

Mott 32

A Chinese restaurant serving lunch and dinner. It suits a long, seated meal with a group.

Ojo

A Mexican-inspired restaurant that the hotel calls the highest restaurant in Thailand, serving lunch and dinner. Good for a view-led evening when you do not want to climb to the rooftop bar.

The Standard Grill

American classics for dinner daily, with lunch at weekends. A straightforward choice for a first night in.

Beyond these, The Parlor serves Thai flavours and cocktails through the day, Tease handles afternoon tea, Double Standard is a British-style pub and Sky Beach is the rooftop cocktail bar.

Amenities

The Pool is a terrace pool on the 6th floor, and The Standard Gym next to it is open 24 hours. Both are free for hotel guests. Valet parking is offered, and dogs up to 18 kg are welcome in the lobby, on the ground floor and in rooms.

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at noon.

Where to stay

Pick the area before the hotel

Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
