Phyathai 3 Hospital and Its Sister Branches Compared
Phyathai 3 Hospital (300 beds, Thonburi) vs Phyathai 1, 2, Nawamin, Phaholyothin and Sriracha: bed counts, locations, strengths and how to pick a branch.

On this page
Phyathai 3 Hospital is a 300-bed private hospital on Phet Kasem Road in Phasi Charoen, on the Thonburi side of the river, and it is one of six hospitals in the Phyathai group, which belongs to Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS). The six are Phyathai 1, 2 and 3, Phyathai Nawamin, Phyathai Phaholyothin and Phyathai Sriracha. They share a brand and a call centre, but they differ in size, location and what each is known for, so “Phyathai” alone does not tell you which building to go to. This guide compares the branches, explains where Paolo and Bowin fit in, and gives a short checklist for choosing one.
What is the Phyathai hospital group?
The group’s official site lists six hospitals: Phyathai 1 (Ratchathewi, Bangkok), Phyathai 2 (Phaya Thai, Bangkok), Phyathai 3 (Phasi Charoen, Bangkok), Phyathai Nawamin (Bueng Kum, Bangkok), Phyathai Phaholyothin (Phaholyothin Road, Bangkok) and Phyathai Sriracha (Sriracha district, Chonburi). All sit inside the BDMS network, Thailand’s largest private hospital operator, alongside brands such as Bangkok Hospital and Samitivej.
The group lists ten specialist centres across the network: heart, cancer, brain and neuroscience, bone and joint, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, eye, GI and liver, internal medicine, and rehabilitation. Confirm at the branch that the exact service you need is on site before you book.
Which Phyathai branch is which?
The table uses the group’s own branch pages (checked October 2026). The accreditation column reflects only what the group site states.
| Branch | Area | Beds | Opened | Known for (per group site) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phyathai 1 | Si Ayutthaya Rd, Ratchathewi | 220 | 1976 | Central Bangkok, near the Airport Rail Link |
| Phyathai 2 International | Phaholyothin Rd, Phaya Thai | 550 | 1987 | Group flagship; heart, musculoskeletal, GI, women’s health; JCI |
| Phyathai 3 | Phet Kasem Rd, Phasi Charoen | 300 | 1996 | Women’s health, heart, brain and nervous system, children |
| Phyathai Nawamin International | Nawamin Rd, Bueng Kum | 200 | 1995 (rebranded 2014) | International patient services; 42 clinics |
| Phyathai Phaholyothin | Phahon Yothin Rd, Phaya Thai | 220 | 1972 | Primary to tertiary care; formerly Paolo Phaholyothin |
| Phyathai Sriracha | Sriracha, Chonburi | 220 | - | Eastern seaboard (Chonburi) coverage |

What is Phyathai 3 Hospital known for?
Phyathai 3 opened on 4 October 1996 to serve the Thonburi area, and the official page lists its address as 111 Phet Kasem Road, Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen, Bangkok 10160. It has one building and 300 beds. The centres highlighted on its page are women’s health, heart, and brain and nervous system. The hospital calls its Child and Adolescent Health Center the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia, which is the hospital’s own claim and not an independent ranking.
Wikipedia places it near Bang Wa BTS station on the Thonburi side. That is useful if you live or stay west of the river: Phyathai 3 is the group’s only Bangkok branch there, so it saves a cross-river trip to Phyathai 1 or 2. The page shows an “Expat Health & Wellness” banner, so ask about interpreters and billing when you call.

Phyathai 1: the central branch
Phyathai 1 was established on 30 July 1976 at 364/1 Si Ayutthaya Road, Ratchathewi, and has 220 beds in three buildings. Wikipedia says it is near Ratchaprarop Station on the Airport Rail Link.
If you are looking for a hotel near Phyathai 1, search by station rather than by hospital name: Ratchaprarop (Airport Rail Link) is the station Wikipedia names, and Phyathai 2 is described as near Sanam Pao BTS. Check the walking route on a map, because the hospital buildings sit on busy roads.

Phyathai 2: the flagship and the only branch with a stated JCI badge
Phyathai 2 International Hospital, at 943 Phaholyothin Road, has 550 beds, the largest of the group. Wikipedia says it opened on 22 July 1987 and received JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation in 2014. The group site also describes it as JCI accredited, as the flagship, and as offering dedicated international patient services with multilingual coordinators. It lists heart, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal and women’s health centres, and the group site reports a 2026 Healthcare Asia Awards title for medical tourism hospital of the year (Thailand).
For a single-hospital view, see our Phyathai 2 guide.
The group site states that its medical centres operate under Thai Hospital Accreditation (HA). If JCI matters to you, see how it compares with other standards in our guide to JCI vs private vs public hospitals.
Phyathai Nawamin and Phyathai Phaholyothin
Phyathai Nawamin International Hospital is at 44, 505 Nawamin Road, Bueng Kum, in eastern Bangkok. It has 200 beds, opened in 1995 and was rebranded in 2014. Its page lists 42 clinics and several services aimed at foreign patients: about 50 international staff speaking several languages, complimentary airport pick-up and drop-off, enquiries answered within 48 hours, and a location about 30 minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Reviewers searching for “phyathai nawamin hospital reviews” should read recent patient reviews on several platforms and weigh them against these official claims.
Phyathai Phaholyothin Hospital is at 670/1 Phahon Yothin Road, Samsen Nai, Phaya Thai, with 220 beds. It was established in 1972 as Paolo Phaholyothin and was rebranded under the Phyathai name as part of the Phyathai-Paolo Hospital Group, per a group announcement aimed at younger, health-conscious patients.
Where do Paolo, Sriracha and Bowin fit in?
Paolo is a separate BDMS hospital brand that grew from Paolo Phaholyothin (opened 19 May 1972 in Saphan Kwai). The BDMS Paolo page names Paolo Chokchai 4, Paolo Samutprakarn, Paolo Rangsit, Paolo Kaset and Paolo Phrapradaeng. A 2023 press release described the combined Phyathai-Paolo group as 11 hospitals with more than 3,000 physicians. So “Phyathai Paolo Hospital Group” is the management umbrella, and only six hospitals carry the Phyathai name.
Phyathai Sriracha is at 90 Sriracha Road 3, Si Racha, Chon Buri, with three buildings and 220 beds on the official page.
Phyathai Bowin is an expansion of the Sriracha hospital in Bowin: call the Sriracha hospital before visiting.

How do prices compare across the branches?
The group site says its package catalogue is on its website and that most packages are eligible for insurance reimbursement. Prices differ by branch, age and sex, so ask each branch for the current price and what it includes. For a wider comparison, see our guide to executive health check-up packages.
Reviews and photos: what to rely on
Searches such as “phyathai 3 hospital reviews”, “phyathai 1 hospital reviews” and “phyathai sriracha hospital reviews” return a mix of platform ratings and social posts, and this guide does not rank them. Read several recent reviews rather than one score, look for reviews about the department you need, and ignore reviews about parking or queues if your concern is clinical. For photos, the official branch pages are the best source for current buildings, and your own phone map photos help you spot the right entrance on arrival.
How do I choose a branch?
- Start with location. Thonburi side: Phyathai 3. Central Phaya Thai: Phyathai 1, 2 or Phaholyothin. Eastern Bangkok and near Suvarnabhumi: Nawamin. Chonburi: Sriracha.
- Match the service. The ten centres are group-wide, so call and ask the branch whether the specific specialist and equipment you need are on site, or whether you would be transferred.
- Ask about accreditation. The group site states JCI for Phyathai 2. Ask other branches what they hold.
- Confirm international support. Ask for an interpreter and a named coordinator. Phyathai 2 and Nawamin describe these most clearly.
- Get a written estimate and the insurance route. Ask whether the hospital bills your insurer directly. Our guide on choosing a hospital lists the questions to ask before you commit.

Who may want a different hospital?
If you need a specific transplant, complex cancer programme or a hospital with a stated international accreditation at a particular site, a Phyathai branch may not be the best fit. In that case compare the options in JCI vs private vs public hospitals and ask for a second opinion.
For other groups, see the Thonburi group and the Kasemrad network.
