Essentials

Royal Orchid Sheraton is a high-rise riverside hotel at 2 Charoen Krung Road Soi 30 in Bangrak, with about 726 rooms and suites. The Si Phraya pier is a 2-minute walk, and the nearest BTS station, Saphan Taksin, is about 17 minutes on foot.

The tower stands on a bend of the river, so rooms look across to the Thonburi bank and down towards central Bangkok. Because the road walk to the BTS is long in midday heat, the boat is the intended link to the Silom Line.

Overview

One big tower with the feel of a river resort: many room floors, two pools and several restaurants under one roof. Rooms have marble bathrooms and Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience beds, according to the hotel’s Marriott page. Club-level rooms add the Sheraton Club Lounge, which has views over the river.

River view is a room category, so choose it when booking.

For a smaller property or a station at the door, the other options in riverside mid-range hotels in Bangkok trade scale for ease. For the boat route to the BTS, see the Chao Phraya pier guide.

Tip: Marriott’s pages disagree on whether a shuttle boat runs, so confirm the schedule at check-in before planning a morning around it, and keep the 17-minute walk to Saphan Taksin as the fallback.

Food and drink

Thara Thong

Royal Thai cuisine in a teakwood pavilion, with Thai cultural performances in the evenings from Thursday to Sunday, according to Marriott’s listing.

Siam Yacht Club

Modern European cooking with Asian influences.

Giorgio’s

Italian restaurant on an open-air terrace. The hotel also has Feast, a buffet restaurant, plus a lobby lounge and room service.

Amenities

Two outdoor pools: a garden pool and a salt-water Terrace Pool overlooking the river. The hotel also lists a Sheraton Fitness centre, steam and sauna rooms and meditation gardens.

The Sheraton Club Lounge serves club-level guests with breakfast, drinks and hors d’oeuvres. The pier, a 2-minute walk, is the easiest way to leave the hotel without crossing Charoen Krung Road traffic.

Where to stay

Pick the area before the hotel

Traffic and heat make Bangkok distances feel longer than they look on a map, so the area shapes a trip more than the hotel does. Our guides match areas to trip types and explain the trade-offs.
